New Education Policy in India 2020.
The Indian education policy came in 1986 before the year 2020, i.e. 34 years ago. The National Education Policy was first formulated at that time.
After this, there were changes in the National Education Policy several times. But there has been no major change in the education policy from the last 3 decades.
And now in the year 2020, after 34 years, our country’s education policy has changed on such a large scale, that this new education policy In India can also be called a Revolutionary Education Policy.
New National Education Policy i.e. (NEP): From the admission of the child in the school to the completion of college education, there have been many positive and progressive changes have been brought.
Under this policy, now the name of HRD (i.e. Ministry of Human Resource and Development) has been changed to (Ministry of Education).
In this new education policy In India, a target to spend 6% of GDP on the education sector has also been set. Currently, only 4.43% of the budget is spent on education.
After the implementation of this new education policy, how will the pattern of school education become? Let’s understand it.
The pattern of school education will change completely after the implementation of this policy.
Till now school education was based on 10+2. But now education has been divided into 5+3+3+4 stages in this new system.

New Education Policy Stages
The first stage is the Fundamental Stage.
Stage 1: Fundamental Stage.
This stage consists of the first 5 years of school. Out of which the first 3 years children will study in Anganwadi, Kindergarten or Pre-school.
During this time, the age of the children will be 3 to 6 years.
And in the next 2 years, children will study in 1st and 2nd class. The children studying in these classes will be 6 to 8 years old.
This education will be activity-based learning in which the skill will be developed in the children through their sports and playing educational games.
A big change will also be seen at this stage. In the existing pattern, children stay in Anganwadi or Preschool for 2 years.
While in the new pattern, this duration will be 3 years.
Let’s move forward to the second stage.
Stage 2: Preparatory Stage.
There will be 3 years of school education at this stage. In which the child will fall from the 3rd to the 5th class and during this time their age will be from 8 to 11 years.
At this stage, instead of adding more on books, children will be given interactive learning and activity-based education.
Now further we know about the 3rd stage which is the middle stage.
Stage 3: Middle Stage.
This stage will also be of 3 years in which the student will study from class 6 to 8 and during this period, they will be 11 to 14 years old.
In these classes, students will be given education in Maths, Science, Arts, Social Science, and Humanity. Which will be experiment-based learning.
That is, the students will get an opportunity to learn by practicing the experiment i.e. instead of passing the exam by mugging up or cramming.
Talking about class 6th education, it will also include an internship. For example, Students in the 6th class will be able to learn computer coding.
Stage 4: Secondary Stage.
This stage of 4 years has been kept from class 9th to class 12th. During this period, 14 to 18 years will be the age of the student.
The pressure of the best performance on students in these classes will be greatly reduced in this new policy.
Because through this policy, students will be able to get a chance of multi-disciplinary study.
Through which students will be able to choose the subject of their choice and will be able to read the subject of their interest with the help of a flexible study pattern.
We mean to say that if the student wants to study music with science, then he can also take music subjects with science.
In this way, it will be possible to read your favorite subject from every stream.
In this way, now you have understood these 5+3+3+4 patterns of the new education policy In India.
- 5 Years of Fundamental Stage.
- 3 Years of Preparatory Stage.
- 3 Years of Middle Stage.
- 4 Years of Secondary Stage.
With this, let us go ahead and understand the ECCE framework. Which is also related to the changes in the school education policy.
New Education Policy (ECCE)
ECCE (Early Childhood Care and Education). In this, along with giving education to children, their care will also be taken, for which teachers will get special training.
According to this framework, children aged 3 to 8 years are divided into two categories.
In the 1st category, there will be children between 3 and 6 years who will take education under ECCE.
And after that, children will study in the primary till the age of 8 years, which will be the secondary category of this framework.
By the way, there have been many more changes in this new policy such as the board exam patterns of class 10th and 12th will be changed.
Due to which the students should not study under the pressure of coaches to give the exam by mugging up or swot up.
Now the pattern of these exams will be changed to objective and descriptive so that students' knowledge can be tested. And the board exam can become easy for them.
These exams will happen twice a year after the implementation of the new education policy.
A new National Assessment Center (PARAKH) for Board Examination will also be established.
At least up to class 5, children will be able to study in their mother tongue, the local language, or regional language.
According to this policy, contemporary subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Design Thinking, Holistic Health will also be included in school education.
And content giving information about traditional Indian values and Constitutional values will also be included in the curriculum.
Now students will be able to choose the Sanskrit language as an option in school and college.
Foreign languages can also be selected as an option at the secondary education level. Indian Sign Language will also be centralized.

Undergraduate courses are 3 to 4 years of duration.

If you are able to study only for 2 years, you will get a diploma certificate. For leaving after studying for 3 years you get a graduation degree.
And after completing 4 years will be considered as research-based graduation.
In the technical institutes of the country, along with engineering, emphasis will be given on arts and human subjects too.
There will be only one Common Entrance Test for admission in all institutes of the country.
This test will be optional and students will also be able to do online courses in Sub Regional Languages.
Currently, most courses are available in English and Hindi languages only.
A National Academic Credit Bank will be created in which academic credits of students studying at the Recognized Higher Education Institute will also be deposited.
This process will be automatic and the student’s credits will reach their account. Students will be able to use these credits for any academic program.
For all other higher education except law and medical education, the Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) will be created that will replace UGC.
With the help of NCTE and NCERT, teachers will create a new National Curriculum Structure for training.
According to this new policy of India, the minimum qualification for teaching is 4 years integrated B.Ed. This means it is important to have a degree course.
